Day Four

Thursday, April 14th

1 hour old
72 hours old
We cannot believe how quickly the little ones are growing and changing. It has only been three and a half days and what a difference!

Mom is pretty much back to her old self too, which is wonderful to see. She is noticeably slimmer (Although we did not notice her getting bigger at the time due to her breed's odd shaping), hopping around the room, and I even saw a binky last night (strange term but it means a half hop, twist and jump that they do when they are happy) .

The runt is getting quite the personality. S/he "pops" when you pick it up. They are too young to hop, so their entire body literally "pops" up in the air. The others are very docile and will sit quietly after a moment or two of snuffling around/digging in your hand, but not the runt. It is constantly moving and you need to have two hands around it to keep it from falling. It is obviously thriving well, but is only half the size of the others.

The kits have developed some very funny and cute sleeping positions, as well as preferred spots in the "bunny row" or "bunny pile up".

For those that are wondering about Sugar aka Artificial Sweetener (my husband), aka Sugar Daddy (the vet)), he is also doing fine.  For obvious reasons, he must be kept away from Cuddles and the babies, so only one of them gets their exercise and social time with us at a given time (the other stays locked safely in their cage).

On Monday night, Sugar was being very aggressive (jumped a baby gate to land on the top of Cuddles' cage). This was upsetting Cuddles and as we did not want to put any more stress on her, he was kept to his cage for the next 24 hours. He seems to have calmed down now quite a bit and although he does go over to sniff her cage, he is not aggressive about it, nor does it seem to upset her as much, so he is allowed a few hours of "out and about" time.

Wednesday night, we took Sugar to the vet for a check up. He was deemed healthy and in great shape for surgery. He is booked in for a neutering appointment on Tuesday. Once he has healed from his surgery (about two weeks, I think), we can let them roam together again. Not sure about the babies, I will need to check with the vet about when that will be safe.

For your last "aww' moment of the day, please enjoy these loving siblings.

  1. An AWWW moment indeed! I just called my daughter down from brushing her teeth to come look at the photos! What a feel good moment!

  2. Dreamer - I have photos galore, so keep reading. I also have video clips but alas, they take way too long to upload.

Should you ever wish to see them in person though, we can certainly arrange that. Some therapeutic bunny time is good for all.
